Perfect Fit Media Filters
Standard pleated filters can become clogged quickly and need to be changed more often. But, because “Perfect Fit” media filters have more than one layer that traps particles – they are a more efficient choice and will last longer. Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (or MERV), is a measurement scale used to rate the effectiveness of air filters. The scale represents the precision and accuracy of air-cleaning filters that allow for improved health, reduced costs and energy savings. The higher the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings on a perfect fit media filter, the fewer dust particles and other airborne contaminants pass through the filter. MERVratings range from 1 – 16, while common household filters usually range from MERV 1 – 6. At a MERV rating of 8 a filter can start to catch things as small as mold spores. MERV ratings above 10 are not generally used in residential applications, but a MERV rating of 16 can catch human sneezes particles, bacteria, and tobacco smoke.
